Finding Comfort in the Ways We Heal

Sickness has been everywhere lately — in our homes, our schools, our workplaces, and our routines. And one thing I’m reminded of every time this season rolls through is just how different we all are when it comes to healing. What works beautifully for one person might not do much for another. Some people swear by herbal teas, some reach for warm broth, some need extra sleep, and some need movement to feel human again.

But even with all our differences, there are a few simple, universal comforts that seem to help almost everyone. They don’t cure anything, but they soothe, support, and remind your body that it’s safe to rest.

🍵 Warm drinks that comfort the body

Warm herbal tea, hot water with lemon, or even gently warmed juice can feel like a hug from the inside. My mom used to make a holiday tea that was a family favorite — especially on sick days. She’d pour apple and pineapple juice into a crock pot, add freshly sliced oranges and lemons, and let it steep with spices for hours. The whole house smelled warm and cozy. And when you took that first sip… oh my goodness. It hit just the right spot. Comforting, soothing, and grounding.

🌬 We all need gentle support for our breathing

In our dry Wyoming air and

a little moisture goes a long way. A diffuser with eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree, or oregano essential oil can help open things up. A humidifier can make breathing easier and soothe irritated sinuses. And for those stubborn congestion days, the classics still work:

- A neti pot

- Saline nasal sprays

- Steam from a bowl of hot water, tea, or broth with a towel over your head

Simple, old‑school, and surprisingly effective.

😴 Rest and hydration — the two things we all need

No matter who you are or what your body responds to, two things are always true:

You need rest, and you need fluids.

Your body loses so much while fighting off illness. It’s working hard behind the scenes, even when you’re lying still. Drinking more water than you think you need and giving yourself permission to slow down makes a huge difference.

🌸 Your body knows how to heal

It just needs time, support, and a little kindness. Whether you’re using warm tea, steam, essential oils, extra sleep, or quiet moments to yourself, trust that your body is doing its best. You will find your rhythm again. You will feel normal again. Healing isn’t instant, but it’s steady.

Take care of yourself today.

Give your body what it’s asking for.

And let this be your gentle reminder that you’re not alone in this season.

Love, Debbie 💗
