The Stress Factor, Part 3: From Worrier to Warrior

Stress has been a defining factor in my life for as long as I can remember. I didn’t recognize its grip at first—it was just how I operated. Worrying about everything became second nature: my family, my finances, my job, my future. It was as if stress had woven itself into my identity, leaving me exhausted, overwhelmed, and doubting my worth.

Just this last year, I began to realize something powerful—stress wasn’t just affecting my mood, it was breaking down my body. The headaches, the sleepless nights, the tension buried deep in my muscles, the anxiety, the fears, the digestion issues that would literally bring me to my knees in pain—it was all evidence of the silent war I had been fighting for too long. And then, I watched as it manifested and consumed my daughter as well. At a much younger age than me, she was already carrying the same weight, feeling the same anxiety, battling the same fears, experiencing the pain that comes with it.

That’s when everything changed.

Breaking the Chain

I refused to let stress define my daughter’s future the way it had shaped my past. We started paying attention to our triggers—what overwhelmed us, what drained us, what sent our minds into overdrive. Instead of allowing stress to control us, we take small, deliberate steps to reclaim our peace.

The most important thing we learned? You can’t eliminate stress entirely, but you can change how you respond to it.

By focusing on areas like faith, movement, sleep, and mindset, we are slowly finding that balance.

- Faith taught me that we are never alone. Surrendering my fears to God brought clarity and peace in moments when I felt like breaking.

- Movement helped reset our minds.

A simple walk outside, stretching for a few minutes, or choosing to be active instead of shutting down—it makes a difference.

- Sleep is a priority, because we realized how much exhaustion magnifies stress. 6-8 hours of sleep is necessary.

- Mindset shifted everything.

We started believing that our voice mattered. That we weren’t powerless. That we were meant for something bigger than our worries.

Becoming the Warrior I Was Meant to Be

For most of my life, I believed I was meant to be in the background—to play the supporting role, to take care of others and to put my own needs last. Which brought on plenty of stress too.

Stress made me believe I had no choice but to drown in worry.

But now, I know "I was meant for more"!

I can do All things through Him who give me Strength.
I can do All things through Him who give me Strength.

Every day, challenges arise. Life throws curveballs that threaten to pull me back into my old ways of worry. But instead of letting stress control me, I stand firm in faith. I remind myself daily that: What I say and believe matters. My work matters. My life matters. Above all, God matters.

God strengthens me daily, and I give Him all the glory for turning my pain into purpose. I am not here to chase money or status—I am here to make an impact. Helping people excites me more than any paycheck or staus quo ever could. And knowing that my journey can inspire others to break free from stress makes it all worth it.

If you’re reading this and feeling trapped in stress, I want you to know—you are not alone. You are meant for more. You have the power to rise above worry and step into the warrior God created you to be!

The Hidden Costs of Stress

Before breaking free, I had to first understand the impact stress was having on me physically, emotionally, and mentally. Here are some common signs that stress may be running your life:

✅ Chronic fatigue and burnout

✅ Sleep disturbances or restlessness

✅ Increased anxiety, depression, or irritability

✅ Digestive issues, headaches, or muscle tension

✅ Feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, or powerless

If any of these sound familiar, know this—You are not alone, and you can take back control!

Transforming Stress: The Power of Small Changes

Reducing stress doesn’t require a complete life overhaul. Instead, it starts with one small, intentional change. Here are some simple steps that helped me:

🟢 Step in Faith: Anchor yourself in God’s strength.

Stress often stems from fear of the unknown. But I have found peace in surrender—knowing that God has a plan, that He strengthens me daily, and that He carries my burdens. Try starting your day with scripture, prayer, or quiet reflection—and let faith replace fear.

🟢 Step in Movement: Release tension and re-energize.

Stress lingers in the body. A short walk, stretching, deep breathing or getting a myofascial release massage can instantly improve clarity and relieve anxiety. You don’t need a full workout—just move in ways that feel good!

🟢 Step in Sleep: Prioritize rest to recharge your mind.

Lack of sleep makes stress worse, and stress makes sleep harder—it’s a vicious cycle. Establishing a calming nighttime routine (like limiting screen time and practicing relaxation exercises) can reset your body’s stress response in just a few short weeks.

🟢 Step in Mindset: Speak life over yourself.

For years, I believed I was unimportant, that my voice didn’t matter, that I was destined to be someone of low worth. But shifting my mindset changed everything. Write down affirmations, replace negative self-talk with truth, and remind yourself daily that you are worthy and strong.
